Count your Automation steps before Atlassian does
Count your Automation steps before Atlassian does

Starting December 3, 2026, Atlassian customers may face extra charges when Rovo and Automation usage exceeds their included allowances. ReleaseTEAM's guide explains what counts toward those limits and how admins can keep costs in check.

“
Usage pricing always looks small per unit until you count what a unit is.

Until usage-based billing starts for Automation and Rovo
Now is the time to export your rules, find the expensive ones, and fix them. Wait until November, and you may not have time. Talk with one of our experts to get started.
FROM THE FIELD
Atlassian Automation:
the steps hiding in branches and loops

Executed steps, including triggers, conditions, actions, branches, and loops, measure automation usage. A rule that branches over 20 linked work items can repeat the steps inside that branch 20 times. That makes a frequently run rule with a branch worth a closer look before extra usage billing begins on December 3.

Upload your rules export to see which rules could use the most steps and estimate their monthly impact. Your file stays in your browser.
