Dear Reader-
I hope you enjoyed a spectacular celebration of our
Nation's 233rd birthday! You can see some great shots of the
NYC fireworks show here.
Last month, many of our customers and colleagues had
the opportunity to visit ReleaseTEAM at our booth during the 2009 IBM
Rational Software Development Conference in Orlando, FL.
I am interested to hear if you did attend the conference, if you received
all the information you desired from our booth, and if there is anything
else I can provide you. Send me an email or give me a call if I can
assist in answering any open questions/issues or if there is an
opportunity for us to work together.
ReleaseTEAM is an Advanced level IBM Premier Business Partner and
we are available to support your teams with IBM Rational applications and
in all areas of the software development lifecycle. ReleaseTEAM can do
assessments, consulting and mentoring to help you optimize your IBM
Rational and SCM tool investments.
I look forward
to hearing from you soon, Cheers!

I
have personally been very impressed with ITIL - especially two of its key
tools. The first is the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and the
second is the Configuration Management System (CMS). CM practitioners
need to take the deep dive into ITIL and all of its CM related best
practices. Here is a brief explanation of the CMS and the CMDB to get you
started.

Are you
doing Configuration Management?
By
Bob Aiello, 07/05/09

Configuration
Management is an essential discipline that involves establishing controls
to manage your most essential organizational assets - including source
code, executable binaries, configuration files, supporting documents
(e.g. requirements documents, test plans and release notes), as well as
the production systems upon which they run. We usually use the term
Configuration Item (CI) to refer to any of these items. If you need these
artifacts to support your product, then they must be under configuration
control. But what exactly is CM and how do you know if you are doing a
good job at establishing CM controls and best practices?
