Fri, 31 Oct 2008 @ 14:14 || Halloween || NationalHappy Halloween! Will be watching our usual movie, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" during the trick or treating hours. Kids are too big for trick or treating so they get to take turns handing out the candy, assuming they don't eat it all first.link to story || 0 comments || Add a comment Sun, 07 Sep 2008 @ 09:21 || Fight Procrastination Day || NationalHappy Fight Procrastination Day! I'm not in a forgiving mood today, fighting with the new phone system and it hasn't been installed yet. Took the day off a paying gig to sit in my office and wait....Global Forgiveness Day began in 1994. It was created and is sponsored by the Christian Embassy of Christ's Ambassadors. This holiday originated in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. International Forgiveness Day was created by the World Forgiveness Alliance, a non-denominational, educational foundation. According to their website: " International Forgiveness Day dedicated to evoking the healing power of forgiveness worldwide." The founder is Robert W. Plath, from Mill Valley, California.

Yesterday should have been "piss your wife off day". Instead it was only Vesuvius Day. So are we kissing people to make up for a volcano from 79 A.D?link to story || 1 comment || Add a comment Sun, 17 Aug 2008 @ 09:38 || National Thriftshop Day || NationalHappy National Thriftshop Day. I have a bunch of crap in my garage that I was waiting for a sunny Saturday morning to yardsale. It would probably be easy to just dump it all at a thriftshop. Not sure if any are open on Sundays, most seem to be religiously based.Mindy and I were going to have a yard sales last Sunday, but it was calling for rain, it didn't rain much, but we didn't bother. We were going to do the yard sale yesterday but it poured all day. The other week when I was working on the basement, Shane and I pulled out all the boxes that were in our way and threw them into the garage. Sukki hasn't been able to park inside since. Looks like Sukki has been hording all our old clothes in the basement. I had Mindy sort everything into 3 piles, keep, toss and yard sale. If I get bored enough today, I'll put the yard sale pile, which is the biggest one into my truck and see if I can find a thriftshop thats open, or at least one of the goodwill dropoff dumpsters. link to story || 0 comments || Add a comment Mon, 11 Aug 2008 @ 18:02 || Son and Daughter Day || NationalHappy son and daughter day! Not sure how this is different than Child's day.Mindy starts the 9th grade tomorrow. Shane starts the 12th on Weds. link to story || 0 comments || Add a comment Sun, 10 Aug 2008 @ 18:37 || Happy Lazy and National S'mores Day || NationalI was pretty lazy today. I was going to start working on the basement again, but I let Sukki talk me out of it.I'd go for some S'mores, but I go into the Doctor tomorrow and don't want my blood sugar to be unnaturally higher than it usually is. link to story || 0 comments || Add a comment Thu, 07 Aug 2008 @ 07:38 || National Lighthouse Day || NationalOn August 7, 1789, through an Act of Congress, the Federal Government took over responsibility for building and operating our nation's lighthouses. The government recognized the importance to ships at sea to find safe harbor during fog and storms. Over the years, lighthouses have saved many ships, and an untold number of lives. This National day actually has some history behind it. 60 minutes or the Sunday morning news had a piece on how the Federal government couldn't give away lighthouses but when they switched to auctioning them off, hundreds lined up. If I had known they were trying to give them away I would have taken one. Running my company from a lighthouse would be fun. link to story || 1 comment || Add a comment Wed, 06 Aug 2008 @ 07:29 || Wiggle Your Toes Day || NationalI guess we're sposta wear sandals today, or no shoes. Apparently someone one wants us to forgive and be friends with our sisters while eating watermelon.I do have a watermelon, but I'm not about to call my sister anytime soon. link to story || 1 comment || Add a comment Sat, 02 Aug 2008 @ 09:23 || National Ice Cream Sandwich Day || NationalMost of these food related National days are not helping my diet. I feel compelled to go get some ice cream sandwiches. I wonder if we'll have a National Salad Day anytime soon.link to story || 1 comment || Add a comment Fri, 01 Aug 2008 @ 09:52 || National Raspberry Cream Pie Day || NationalWell, this sounds good, National Raspberry Cream Pie Day. These National days are getting real specific. Not sure I've ever had a Raspberry Cream Pie.I'll have to stop off at Village Inn and see if they have any Raspberry Cream Pies. of course, I'll check to see if it's sugar free. link to story || 2 comments || Add a comment Mon, 28 Jul 2008 @ 20:26 || National Milk Chocolate Day || NationalAt first I thought this was National Chocolate Milk Day, which I'd be all for. But it's only National Milk Chocolate Day, which, while also pretty cool, it's not as cool as National Chocolate Milk Day would be.Yesterday was National Parents Day. My kids owe me a present. link to story || 0 comments || Add a comment Fri, 25 Jul 2008 @ 17:41 || Culinarians Day || NationalHappy National Culinarians Day!I'm working late again, still trying to recover my raid array. Got some hot dogs and sausages ready to go. Not that it takes much to get them ready to go, but I don't have a lot to say about hot dog day. Here's some Hog Dog Trivialink to story || 0 comments || Add a comment Mon, 21 Jul 2008 @ 21:13 || New Feature || NationalThis has been bugging me for a while, probably a few years. Stupid National Days. It seems every day is National something day. Today was National Junk Food Day. Does Junk Food really need a day, and what does this really mean? This Sunday was National Ice Cream Day and National Moon day. We did have Ice Cream on Sunday, but didn't do anything Moon related so I guess I feel bad for dissing the Moon. Tomorrow is National Hammock day, and although I own a hammock, I need to go to work, I also lack two trees close (and strong enough) together to hang the hammock. So from now on, and when I remember, or I think it's funny I'll be doing a public service and complain about which National day it is. link to story || 0 comments || Add a comment |
